Lighting of La vélocité des lieux Art Piece

Public art installation La Vélocité des lieux (velocity of places) was inaugurated on Saturday, September 20, 2015, in the Montréal-Nord borough. Ombrages, our lighting division, was in charge of the lighting for this project.

The art piece is made up of five rounded bus silhouettes connected to the centre via cables that form the spokes of a huge bicycle wheel. Our mandate involved simulating bus headlights cutting through the night. We incorporated 15 linear lights to recreate a dome lighting effect, while using actual bus lights for the headlights and running lights

The 60-foot stationary wheel is meant to be a monumental and original depiction of human and vehicular movement and the flow of human activity at the strategic crossroads of Henri-Bourassa and Pie-IX.
