Climate Change Resilience – Climate Risk Assessment

Adaptation to climate change is a set of initiatives and measures taken to reduce vulnerability and strengthen the resilience of natural and human systems to the current or predicted effects of climate change.

Ecosystem Conservation and Restoration

Deep energy efficiency solutions

Plant energy audits and comprehensive assessment including pinch analyses to optimize site-wide energy usage. Includes building energy management with balancing loads across the site, waste heat recovery, HVAC design strategies, and cost-effective alternative heat and power technologies. 

Building energy efficiency & asset renewal

Engineering expertise to develop strategies for and design ultra energy efficient buildings through energy management, efficiency, and optimization. We take an integrated solution approach considering energy supply, HVAC systems, and building envelope while integrating with process energy recovery, fleet electrification and leading-edge sensor technology. Our work extends beyond design but helping get access to incentives and providing on going technical support through the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives over time. 

Fleet electrification

Customized solutions for fleet conversion including vehicle analysis and selection, fleet route optimization, vehicle and charger technology selection, and vehicle-to-grid strategies with demand management and peak shaving. Norda Stelos approach inherently links with building efficiency strategies as well as broader equipment electrification. 

Climate technology solutions

Norda Stelo focusses on identifying, evaluating, de-risking and deploying innovative climate technologies acting as a bridge between solution providers and asset owners through strategic advice and engineering. We provide consulting and engineering associated with renewable energy production systems such as solar, wind, and biomass cogeneration while also advancing a range of promising new technologies in the spaces of fuel switching, CO2 capture CO2 storage, utilization, and mineralization, equipment electrification, alternative industrial heating, and hydrogen production through electrolysis and methane pyrolysis. We support industry in determining the most viable options and how to deploy these options while also while also acting as a trusted advisor to technology providers and investors.

Ports

Montreal Port Decarbonization

Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership (MGTP) seeks to understand and dramatically reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As a port terminal operator, it has many different sources of emissions from a range of different vehicle types that support the day-to-day operations of the port. This project first performed a detailed GHG inventory to identify deep GHG reduction opportunities.
Mining and Metallurgy

Life Cycle Analysis of a Decarbonization Technology

Evaluation of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions profile of Exterra Carbon Solutions’ new CO2 mineralization technology and determination of the distribution of GHGs between the different product streams through a life cycle assessment (LCA). This will allow to obtain a preliminary estimate of the carbon footprint of their technology to help inform engineering design decisions and support internal stakeholder and investor engagement.
