Exterra Solutions Carbone, a company specializing in carbon sequestration, wanted to determine the preliminary carbon footprint of its technology – the allocation of GHGs across several products streams – and the estimated and actual GHG reductions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Norda Stelo then needed to assign a carbon footprint to the products Exterra Carbon Solutions manufactures, assuming they do not use their carbon sequestration technology, to demonstrate its effectiveness.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The complexity of the project lies in the large number of inputs and outputs of the climate technology<\/span>. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, based on ISO 14040 and 14044 standards, was therefore put forward to produce credible results.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These standards enabled the customer to confirm the design considerations of their innovative technology and understand the full picture of its greenhouse gas emissions to better explain the principle of their process to key stakeholders and convince them of its usefulness.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n

Norda Stelo’s expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) – a method of analysis that evaluates the environmental performance of a product or activity over its entire life cycle – was used, along with strategic insights, to effectively define the project.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on ISO 14040 and 14044 standards, Norda Stelo was able to identify and study the main data sources of the technological process used by Exterra Solutions Carbone to ensure a highly credible analysis. In addition, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology ensures that Scope 3 emissions (indirect GHG emissions) are also considered.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n

Given the multiple inputs and outputs of Exterra Solutions Carbone’s climate technology<\/span>,<\/span> a life cycle assessment approach is the only credible and rigorous option to apply in accordance with ISO 14040 and 14044 standards.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The results obtained reveal that the elimination of CO<\/span>2<\/span> by Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology is far surpassed by the low carbon footprint of the technology developed by Exterra Solutions Carbone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to the rigorous life cycle analysis of this innovative carbon sequestration technology, clients can now back up their arguments with concrete data that demonstrate the effectiveness of this technology.
